UPDATE  [5/20/10]:  Houston and New Orleans Maritime Law Firms Join Forces in Representing Deepwater Horizon Crewmembers

Our law firm has joined forces with a premier maritime law firm located in New Orleans, The Young Law Firm, for purposes of prosecuting our cases based on the Deepwater Horizon explosion.  We are extremely pleased to be working with Tim Young and his law firm.

At no extra cost to our clients, we now have lawyers stategically positioned in the two major hubs of the Deepwater Horizon litigation:  Houston, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana.

Why is it important to our clients to have a law firm with attorneys positioned in these two cities?  Because most of the lawsuit work arising out of the Deepwater Horizon explosion will occur in Houston and New Orleans.  Houston is home to the defendant companies, such as Transocean, BP, Halliburton, and Cameron, and many important company documents are located in Houston.  The Limitation of Liability proceeding filed by Transocean is pending in federal court in Houston, and currently all cases that are filed that include Transocean must be filed in Houston.  New Orleans, on the other hand, is an area that has been hardest hit by the oil spill.  Moreover, many of the witnesses involved in the explosion and rescue efforts are located in or close to New Orleans.

We are very pleased to be able to offer our clients this arrangement, at no additional cost to them.

*****
On April 20, 2010, the Transocean Deepwater Horizon exploded.  Two days later, it sank to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.

Before the rig sank, countless attorney websites went up urging victims and their family members to "hire us immediately."

As an experienced maritime lawyer who is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, I don't think hiring the first attorney you talk to is necessarily the best course of action.  I have had cases against Transocean and currently represent workers injured on Transocean rigs.  I've seen the way the companies defend these lawsuits.  In my opinion, it takes an attorney who has the appropriate experience and resources, and who dedicates him or herself to maritime law, to obtain the correct settlement and properly represent you in such a complex case.

I would urge victims and members of their family to take your time while the investigation is ongoing.  I would also urge victims of the Transocean explosion and their family members to be very careful about hiring an attorney based on their website alone.

I have written three well-received books / Special Reports for injured offshore workers.  I am giving away these books and reports for free, with no obligation and no strings attached, to any victim of the Transocean Rig Explosion and any family member of a victim.
