Upper Midwest bridge closed again after barge incident

The Highway 82 Lansing Bridge spanning the Mississippi River between Iowa and Wisconsin was closed for the second time in four months this week after being struck by a barge. The incident occurred the evening of November 6 and closed the bridge to traffic for two days. The bridge was also closed in July after an out of control loaded barge and its tow struck a protective barrier underneath, became stuck and blocked the main navigation channel.
