A tip in 2010 led to the arrest of a Burnet Co., Texas man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run boating accident on Lake Buchanan in 2002.
On Jan. 20, 2012, the suspect, Travis Marburger, pleaded guilty to that accident caused when his speedboat ran over another boat. 18-year-old Justin Roberts was killed and two of his friends were injured.
The case was cracked when a tip led investigators to find a boat buried on Marburger’s property in late 2010.
Marburger read a statement in court that said he saw two persons in the water just after the crash but he did not stop and fled the lake.
He originally faced manslaughter charges but pled guilty to failure to stop and render aid. He was sentenced to 100 days in the county jail, 10 years probation and must pay a $1,500 fine.
