Tankers Collide in Houston Ship Channel | Houston Jones Act Lawyers

Posted on Dec 13, 2011

Two tanker ships collided in the Houston Ship Channel today.  Conditions in and around Houston today have been extremely foggy, and I suspect this may have something to do with the collision.  Of course, fog is no excuse for a large tanker crashing into another large tanker.

If any of the maritime workers on these vessels were injured, they will have valuable legal rights under the Jones Act.  The offshore worker, through a maritime injury lawyer, will need to show the ship companies were negligent, which should not be a difficult task in light of the facts of this matter.  In addition, the seaman can show that one or both of these tankers were unseaworthy.

Any seamen injured on these tankers will be entitled to maintenance and cure money.  The injured workers are entitled to this compensation even if the companies were not negligent and not at fault for what happened.

If negligence or unseaworthiness is shown, the injured marine workers are further entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.

If you were hurt in this ship collision, please keep in mind that the companies will contact you quickly in an attempt to erode your legal rights.  Visit our Company Tricks Exposed page to learn about how they will try to trick you and get you to sign away your valuable legal rights.  You will learn that you do not have to give any recorded statement, you do not have to see company doctors, and much, much more.

You can learn more by watching the free videos on our Video Tips page, or by ordering our free reports for injured seamen and maritime workers.
