Three persons are missing after their fishing boat sank from a collision with a ship near Gulfport, Mississippi Wednesday night.
The 660-foot commercial ship Eurus London collided with the 163-foot fishing boat Sandy Point between Cat Island and Ship Island about eight miles south of Gulfport at about 8:50 p.m., said Coast Guard Ensign Eurus London.
There were 16 persons on the Sandy Point. 11 were safely pulled out of the water by a pilot boat which transferred them to another fishing boat. Two other crewmembers reached the cargo ship on their own.
Coast Guard boats and helicopters were to conduct a search for the three missing crew.
