From a Coast Guard press release:
Five high school students suffered injuries after a wave struck the bow of a whale watching boat on May 16, 2011 off of Provincetown, Mass.
Coast Guard Station Provincetown received a call at 10:23 a.m. from the crew of the 106-foot vessel Whale Watcher registered from Barnstable, Mass. The students were on the bow when a 5-7 foot wave hit during a whale watching tour approximately five miles north of Race Point, Mass.
The boat docked in Provincetown at the MacMillen Warf and the five students were met by EMS and transported to a hospital. Their injuries were said to be minor.
The weather at the time of the event was 31-mile per hour winds gusting to 35 miles per hour and six foot seas.
The name of the high school was not released.
The boat left the dock to resume the tour. Coast Guard personnel continued to investigate the cause of the injuries.
