18 boats sank and 100 others suffered damage in Santa Cruz, CA from tsunami waves that struck Friday from the 8.9 magnitude Japanese earthquake.
Coast Guard crews and harbor officials spent Sunday attempting to lift sunken vessels from the harbor bottom. Two were removed.
The first waves reached shore at 7:45 a.m.
Boats at the Santa Cruz Yacht harbor were bumped and pushed together.
Total damage is unknown.
