Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie offensive lineman Ted Larsen is being cited as a hero after rescuing two overturned kayakers Wednesday in the Gulf of Mexico.
Larsen and his girlfriend were fishing in their 24-foot boat near Honeymoon Island when they heard a Coast Guard distress alert of a boater at 3 p.m.
After a coordinates check, Larsen realized the distress was close by.
At the scene, two teen kayakers were in the water hanging onto their boat with another person still in their kayak.
Larsen pulled the teens-and their kayaks-aboard and took them safely away.
Larsen, 23, played college football at North Carolina State.
