Maritime Accident in Alabama Leads to Minor Injuries, Much Speculation

Posted on Aug 17, 2011

Last Saturday, an 18-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in an Alabama river accident on Dog River. The teenager crashed into another watercraft on a section of the river known as Hippie Beach around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Alabama Marine Police do not know whether alcohol or speed caused or contributed to the accident. The police did not release the name of the victim but did report that she was transported to Providence Hospital.

Obviously, without more details, one can only speculate about the contributing factors. One's instinct, upon reading the short news bulletin, might be to leap to conclusions. Relevant facts include:

  • Victim was an 18-year-old woman;
  • She crashed near a stretch of river known as "Hippie Beach"

Might she (or another operator) have been engaging in reckless or unsafe activity, such as operating a boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol?

It is natural to leap to conclusions. However, recognize that your intuitions about Alabama maritime injury cases may be extremely far off the mark.

Jumping to conclusions can also get you into serious trouble. Potentially overlooking opportunities to get compensation you need for your medical bills, time off work, rehabilitation, and more can be harmful to you.

Do you need help discerning whether or not you have a case? Maximize your chances of getting compensation and minimize your hassles. Connect with the team at Vujasinovic & Beckcom, LLP, at (800)724-7800 and explore an array of useful and free resources at www.maritimeaccidentattorney.com
