A towboat crew member was evacuated by the Coast Guard Jan. 27 after inhaling a chemical. At approximately 5:30 p.m., Sector New Orleans received a marine-band radio call from the captain of the vessel Lanta Rosa four miles south of Grand Isle, LA. The crew member was reported to have inhaled an unknown chemical resulting in vomiting and a headache. A 33-foot Special Purpose Craft (SPC-LE) was launched from Station Grand Isle. The victim was transferred off the tow boat, taken for emergency care in Grand Isle, and then to a hospital in Cut Off, LA. His condition is unknown.
