Louisiana official on spill response: “It’s just criminal!”

Plaquemines (LA) Parish President Billy Nungesser said “We’ve got to do something, man. It’s just criminal,” about government feet dragging which has prevented his plan to build an 80 mile “sand boom” to protect barrier islands from the BP oil gusher onslaught.

Nungesser said he’s already lined up a commitment from the U.S. dredge fleet to construct the boom but the Army Corp of Engineers has not yet granted him a permit to proceed.

Heavy oil has already begun to coat the Louisiana delta.
