A recent collision between a tanker and barge in the Houston Ship Channel resulted in the breaching of a ballast tank, said a Coast Guard press release.
The accident occurred between the M/V Naticina and a barge being pushed by towing vessel Alliance near Pelican Cut at around 8:00 a.m. on Aug. 17. The Naticina's starboard ballast tank was breached and it proceeded to anchor in the Galveston Fairway Anchorage. The barge was carrying 20,000 barrels of xylene. No injuries or pollution were reported from either vessel.
