Hercules Offshore attorney called Gulf fire a “drag”

According to a New York Times story, a lawyer for Hercules Offshore referred to a September platform fire that forced the evacuation of 13 workers as a “drag.”

The attorney, Jim Noe, chalked up the accident as just “another challenge” for the industry and “another issue that we will have to explain.”

Oil corporation executives have made the news in 2010 for controversial remarks  BP CEO Tony Heyward’s “I want my life back” statement on the Gulf oil spill.

Crewmembers of the Vermillion Block 380 platform had to be rescued from the water after the September 2 fire. Mariner Energy owns the rig.
