Posted on Sep 30, 2010

The Southeast Texas Record recently reported on a maritime case that was filed in Texas.

Robert Occhiogrosso, a Florida seaman, is suing a barge company for injuries he sustained on the job.  The lawsuit was filed against Maryland Marine Inc., dba Higman Barge Lines Inc., on September 16, 2010 in the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division.

The suit involves a maritime accident that took place on June 27, 2009.  Apparently, Mr. Occhiogrosso was working as a crewmember on the Tugboat Annopolis at the time of the incident.  He alleges that there were dangerous conditions on the vessel and that it was unseaworthy.  According to Mr. Occhiogrosso, he was injured due to the negligence of the barge company and its employees.

The seaman claims that his injuries are permanent.  He is pursuing over $75,000 in damages for medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earning, loss of earning capacity, court costs and more.
