In a CNN Money.com survey, fishing is ranked as the most dangerous job in America, and it’s not even close. Its fatality rate is 200 per 100,000 which is over three times greater than logging, which is second on the list. The highest fatality rate comes from cold-weather states because of factors such as severe storms and icy decks. Limited fishing seasons creates a “race to fish,” according to the Environmental Defense Fund.
Here’s the rest of the top 10:
Logger: 61.8 fatalities per 100,000
Airplane Pilots: 57.1
Farmers & Ranchers: 35.8
Roofers: 34.7
Ironworkers: 30.3
Sanitation Workers: 25.2
Industrial Machinest: 18.5
ConstructionL: 18.3
