Two firefighters had their gear severely burned in flames from a fire they battled in the engine room of a tug boat near Galveston, Tx. on Monday.

Both men managed to escape unharmed in the blaze at the Robinson Docks on 27th St. in San Leon on the banks of Dickson Bayou.

The San Leon Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene at 5:30 p.m., said Asst. Fire Chief Scott Lyons.

The blaze quickly spread from the engine room up to the main deck. The Chief pulled his crew out and asked for backup.

A pumper truck was called in because there were no fire hydrants in the area.

The fire was extinguished at around 6:30 p.m.
