Engineer medevaced from Texas bound LNG ship

Posted on Apr 30, 2011

A Danish 2nd engineer was medically evacuated from a liquefied natural gas tanker this past week. The 52-year-old man was suffering with abdominal pains and placed aboard a pilot boat off St. George's, Bermuda at 10:00 a.m. He was taken to a King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. His ship, the Danish-flagged Maersk Meridian, was running from Milford Haven, UK to Sabine Pass, TX.

This was the second medevac from a vessel in Bermuda that day. That afternoon, a 23-year-old Peruvian crew member on the NCL Norwegian Sun was transported by stretcher onto a pilot boat and taken to the same hospital after becoming ill.
