Disney Cruise Ship Employee Vanishes

Posted on Apr 06, 2011

The search continues for a Disney Cruise Line employee who vanished while working aboard the Disney Wonder. The cruise ship was on a 7-day voyage of the coasts of Southern California and Mexico when the female employee disappeared on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

According to Disney spokesperson, Christi Erwin Donnan, 24-year-old Rebecca Coriam of Chester, England, failed to report to work on Tuesday. Ms. Coriam was employed as a youth activities director for the cruise line.

Despite numerous search efforts, investigators have yet to locate Ms. Coriam's whereabouts. She was reportedly last seen when the cruise ship was in Cabo San Lucas. However, it is still unclear whether she disappeared in Cabo San Lucas or while aboard the vessel.

"We have been doing everything possible to find Rebecca Coriam including conducting multiple shipboard searches, the latest one as recently as Saturday. In addition, we have been working with all of the appropriate authorities. Rebecca's disappearance has been difficult for everyone at Disney Cruise Line. We've been in close contact with the Coriam family, and we're assisting them in any way we can," Disney said in a statement.

Ms. Coriam's parents met the ship on Sunday at the Port of Los Angeles to gather her personal belongings.

"It's just, just very, very painful," said Ms. Coriam's father. "And the thought of not seeing her again, I don't know, it's frightening to think about, really."
