Crescent City, CA digging out of tsunami devastation

At least eight boats sank and dozens more were damaged in Crescent City, Calif by a series of wave surges from last Friday's tsunami.

80-percent of the harbor's docks that sheltered 140 boats were wiped out from the surges that arrived around 7:30 a.m. from the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that struck near Japan.

20 miles south, 25-year-old Dustin Weber was swept out to sea as he and two friends were taking pictures of the waves. His family combed the beach looking for him.

There is at least $17.1 million in damage to the harbor and $4 million to private boats, the Port Director said.
