A couple has filed a lawsuit after the husband allegedly suffered an injury while working onboard an oil rig off the coast of Mexico. The suit was filed in Harris County District Court against Tesco Corp., Pride International Inc. and Mexico Drilling Limited on December 10, 2010. It is Case No. 2010-80760.
Keith and Barbara Taylor filed the lawsuit against Tesco Corp., Pride International and Mexico Drilling Limited after Mr. Taylor allegedly sustained an injury while working as a motorman aboard a Pride International oil rig off the coast of Mexico.
Mr. Taylor alleges that he suffered a serious injury after his left hand went into the top drive motor. He claims that the top drive motor left him permanently injured.
According to the couple, Mr. Taylor suffered the maritime injury on January 1, 2010.
Documents indicate that the top drive motor that injured Taylor was manufactured and marketed by Tesco Corp. The lawsuit alleges product liability, as well as negligence.
The couple is seeking actual and exemplary damages following the incident. They are also seeking court costs associated with the lawsuit.
No other details concerning the lawsuit were immediately made available.
