The capsizing of a tugboat in Lake St. Martin, Manitoba is being investigated by TRANSPORT Canada, that nation’s federal transportation agency.
The incident occurred Nov. 2. near the town of Gympsumville. The tug and a barge were being used in a flood control project to remove an earth barrier in an inlet so that water could be released from the lake.
There were no injuries and crew members were safely evacuated before the vessel capsized. They wore life vests.
The tug was moved to dry land and beached.
