The body of a shrimper who vanished after a boat collision last week in Louisiana was found.

Sterling Authement Sr., 73, of Bourg, La., disappeared after his 25-foot shrimp boat collided with a 36-foot aluminum vessel at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near Bayou Little Caillou and the Houma Navigation Canal in Cocodrie, the Houma Courier reported.

A search was conducted by the Coast Guard, area police and firefighters, and other agencies throughout Wednesday-when his boat was recovered-and into the next day, when his body was found.

Warren Basco, 55, who drove the other boat in the collision, was not injured. He operated the boat for CDM Resource Management of Youngsville.

Authement was returning from a fishing trip when the accident occurred in 30-feet deep water.

The cause of the crash has not been determined and remained under investigation.
