A 100-foot fishing boat capsized and sank Sunday morning off of Baja, Mexico. One person was dead and six others were missing at last report from the accident which occurred at around 2:30 a.m. near San Felipe in the Sea of Cortez. The Mexican navy was being assisted by the U.S. Coast Guard in the search for survivors. 44 people—including over two dozen Americans—were aboard the vessel. The Coast Guard was to launch a rescue helicopter Monday morning. There was a delay in notifying authorities after the capsizing due to its remote location as many survivors swam to shore and had to walk for a time before they reached help. 37 persons had been accounted for, including 27 Americans.
