It was foggy when two ships collided Tuesday morning in the Houston Ship Channel, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
The accident between the 630-foot tanker Charleston and the 623-foot cargo ship Harvest Sun occurred at 8:08 a.m. near the Texas City dike. There were no injuries reported, no pollution, and the vessels suffered only minor damage.
The ships dropped anchor and part of the ship channel from light #28 to light #40 was closed for a time as a precaution.
Despite the limited visibility, it was not determined if fog was a factor in the accident.
