Maritime Injuries and Recorded Statement - Some tips

Maritime Injuries & Recorded Statements

If you were involved in a maritime accident, your employer may ask you to give a recorded statement. Don't do it--the only reason your employer wants to get a recorded statement from you is to protect itself legally.

What If I Have Already Given A Recorded Statement?

If you have already given a recorded statement to your employer, then you should immediately request a copy of the recorded statement. That way, you can at least ensure that everything is accurate and up to date.

You may also want to consider asking the your employer if any witnesses have given statements, and if so, you should ask for a copy of witness statements too.

Injured? - We Can Help

If you have been injured in a maritime accident, we recommend that you do your research.  All too often, the company will try to trick you into signing away your legal rights, ask you to give a recorded statement that will hurt your case, force you to see company doctors, or steer you in the wrong direction.  Below is a list of resources we provide to injured maritime employees for FREE.
