Florida Boat Accidents Responsible for 65 Deaths

According to the 2009 Boating Accidents Statistical Report released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), there were 620 Florida boating accidents in one year alone. Some of these boat accidents were deadly and accounted for 65 fatalities.

The FWC reports that many of these boating accident deaths were the result of the following:

Capsizing the boat
Drowning
The FWC also believes that one of the reasons for boating accidents has to do with a lack of safety training. The report published by the FWC states that “the boat operator most likely to be involved in a boating accident is a middle-age or older male who has plenty of boating experience yet has never learned the most important safety considerations by having taken a boating safety course.”
