Is there a difference between decompression sickness and caisson disease?

 

A: Decompression sickness (DCS), caisson disease, diver’s disease and the bends are all names used to describe a scuba diving condition caused by dissolved gases forming into nitrogen bubbles inside the body. It is one of the major risks of the commercial diving profession. Symptoms can range from joint pain to death.
