If you were injured while working at sea, you may be wondering what to do. Here are some things to keep in mind after your offshore accident:

1. Seek medical care immediately – don’t wait because you could compromise your case.
2. Report the accident to your supervisor and fill out an accident report. Make sure the report is complete and accurate before you sign it.
3. Take pictures of the accident scene. If you can’t take pictures, get somebody else to take them for you.
4. DO NOT sign any documents unless you understand and agree with them. Ideally, show documents to an experienced maritime law attorney before you sign.
5. Keep thorough records of everything that happens. Keep copies of every form you submit or sign, keep a diary or log of everything that happens, and write down anything you are told.
