How will I pay my bills while I am unable to work following a maritime injury?

A: If you qualify under the Jones Act, then your company is required to pay "maintenance and cure."  The maintenance will help you pay your bills.

If your company doesn't pay maintenance, or if you don't qualify under the Jones Act, some attorneys may make arrangements to help you with your bills while your legal case is ongoing.  Not all states allow attorneys to help their clients pay bills, but most do.  You should ask your attorney if your situation would qualify for an advance.
