Jones Act seaman working as deckhand for D & S Marine Service settles offshore accident case

Tim was working for D & S Marine Service as a deckhand aboard the towing vessel M/V Daniel C.  As Tim was descending the internal stairs to the second deck, he slipped on the steps and fell.  This area was very dark and the non-skid material on the steps was worn off.  Tim mainly hurt his neck and back in the fall.  Tim had a spine surgery because of his injuries.

Tim requested maintenance and cure benefits from the company.  The company initially paid him some of those benefits, but when it became apparent that Tim's injury was serious, the company stopped the payments.

Tim hired Vujasinovic & Beckcom to help him.  The law firm filed a Jones Act lawsuit against D & S Marine Service in Harris County, Texas, which included Tim's claim for maintenance and cure payments.

V&B lawyers worked up Tim's case by proving that D & S Marine Service was negligent in failing to provide a safe workplace, and that the towing vessel was unseaworthy.  V&B attorneys also proved Tim's damages, which included medical bills, lost wages, physical impairment, physical pain, and mental anguish.

V&B lawyers negotiated a settlement of Tim's case at mediation.
