Why a Tuscaloosa seaman should not admit blame for an injury

If you’re an offshore worker from Tuscaloosa and you suffer an injury on the job, do not take the blame even if you believe you may have contributed to your injury. There are two reasons for this. First, you might not realize that there was a hidden condition that caused the unsafe situation. Second, if you say “it was my fault” and it’s later discovered you were not to blame for the accident, your own words may be used against you by the company if you end up seeking compensation for your injury.

While a federal court has ruled that a ship owner “is not obligated to furnish an accident-free ship,” the burden of proving negligence is relatively ‘light’ under the Jones Act,” ruled another federal court.
