Vessel Slip and Fall Accidents May Be More Common Than You Think

Maritime workers run the risk of becoming injured in a slip and fall accident onboard a vessel, whether they are on a cruise ship, fishing boat or other vessel. No matter the type of vessel, a maritime slip and fall accident can lead to a serious injury.

Most people are aware of the fact that automobile accidents are the leading cause of accidental deaths in America. What most people don’t know is that the second leading cause of accidental deaths are slip and fall accidents, which include slip and fall accidents aboard water vessels.

Many of these vessel accidents can have been prevented.

Some are the result of poorly maintained decks. For instance, if a deck is improperly maintained and the deck gets wet, the moist conditions can create a slippery and dangerous walking surface that can lead to an injury.

Even if the decks include a non-skid surface, there may be a failure to perform routine maintenance, which can lead to the deck becoming worn down.

If you have become injured while onboard a vessel, an experienced maritime attorney can help you determine the factors that were involved in your accident.

If you or someone you know has sustained an injury due to a poorly maintained deck aboard a vessel, you should contact one of our experienced maritime attorneys at the Law Offices of Vujasinovic & Beckcom P.L.L.C. at (713) 224-7800 or (877) 724-7800.
