Shuman Consulting & The Transocean Rig Explosion

Not long ago, I wrote an article exposing the truth about Shuman Consulting's role in injured maritime employee claims entitled "The Truth About Shuman Consulting."

Read My Article "The Truth About Shuman Consulting."

I've recently learned that Shuman Consulting has been hired by Transocean following the Deepwater Horizon explosion in the Gulf of Mexico.

I've also learned that Shuman Consulting is asking crewmembers of Deepwater Horizon disaster to sign "Personal Effect" Releases that potentially waive important legal rights before the victims have even had a chance to complete the grieving process.

I am very aware of Shuman Consulting's role in maritime injury and wrongful death cases and how they operate.  In fact, I have taking legal depositions of Shuman Consulting personnel in cases where I represented injured employees and Shuman was involved.  Shuman will tell injured workers and their family members that they are an "independent" party, thus implying that they are unbiased.  This is complete nonsense.  Do not fall for it.

Shuman Consulting and its representatives are not working for injured offshore employees or their families.  Shuman Consulting is not "independent."  Shuman works for maritime employers.

Do not give a recorded statement to any representative of Transocean or Shuman, do not sign any paperwork they present to you, and do not let them trick you into thinking they are your friends or have your best interests at heart.

It is clear that the insurance companies and Transocean are already putting their legal team together in attempt to minimize financial exposure.  Family members and victims of the rig explosion need to be informed of their legal rights from independent advisors or lawyers with experience in maritime cases.  Taking advice from Shuman Consulting or its representatives would be a very bad idea.
