Seaman’s Rights in a Tugboat Accident

A tugboat accident can lead to severe injuries and permanent disability.  Tugboat and towboat crewmembers work in an unpredictable environment that contains too many hazards to count.  Defective equipment, vessel collisions, slippery surfaces and poor training can all result in a major maritime accident.

If you have been injured on a tug or tow, you need to be aware of your rights under the Jones Act.  This federal law allows you to recover monetary damages for your injuries when negligence caused your tug accident.  The compensation from a Jones Act claim can be substantial and may include damages for pain and suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost income.

You should contact an experienced Jones Act attorney who will be able to explain your legal rights following a tugboat or towboat accident.  It is crucial that you don’t sign anything before consulting with a maritime lawyer, as you could hurt your chances of recovering the money you deserve.  Contact the Houston Law Offices of Vujasinovic & Beckcom, P.L.L.C. at 713.224.7800 or 877.724.7800 today.

For more information about this subject, read the article, Tugboat Accidents and the Jones Act.  Also, be sure to order your copy of Jones Act Lawyer Brian Beckcom’s controversial book, Insider's Guide to Winning Your Maritime Injury Case.  It is a book about maritime injury cases that the insurance companies do not want you to read.
