Seaman sues for tripping over fuel lines

Suffered second serious injury five months later

A tankerman has filed a $1.25 million lawsuit against his employer for serious injuries he suffered after falling over fuel lines.

He suffered more serious injuries from another accident five months later.

Anthony E. Main filed the negligence claim against Enterprise Marine Services in New Orleans federal court on Feb. 9.

The lawsuit involves the first accident which took place aboard the M/V Saint Crispin on Oct. 9, 2009. According to his suit, the fuel lines were located across a walkway without a contrasting color scheme. Because they did not stand out, he tripped over them and suffered disabling, painful and severe injuries to his right shoulder.

On March 21, 2010, Main alleges he again suffered disabling injuries--this time to his spine and right shoulder--while manually pulling lines because of inoperable winches.

He asks for physical and mental pain and suffering, medical bills, maintenance and cure, attorney's fees and court costs.
