No excuse for shipping companies to risk workers’ lives in lifeboat maintenance

The IMO no longer requires crewmembers to be on board lifeboats during lowering and hoisting in other than emergency situations.

OSHA standards prohibit persons in a lifeboat when it is being raised to its stowed position

So why did a seaman die senselessly while greasing a wire in a cruise ship lifeboat earlier this year?

Why must countless seamen die before this dangerous old tradition finally dies?

This month, we are exposing the dangers of lifeboats and rescue boats. Read more in our article library here.

If you've been injured in a lifeboat or rescue boat, contact a qualified maritime attorney immediately.
