CNN's Ali Velshi claims that "oil rigs are some of the safest places to be."

I commented on Mr. Velshi's post (read the first comment, it's from me) because I think his comments are 100% baloney.
I've represented hundreds of offshore workers, and my clients and I know that although the companies preach safety first, it's often production first, safety second.
I'd challenge Mr. Velshi to a debate on this topic but I would expect that he would not want to discuss this issue because the injury statistics on oil rigs do not support his opinions.
