Louisiana Seaman Files Jones Act Lawsuit

A Jones Act lawsuit is filed by a Louisiana seaman after an alleged maritime accident leaves him injured. The suit was filed against Lafayette Workboat Rentals and M/V The Rock by Steven Roe on April 29, 2011, in federal court in New Orleans.

The alleged maritime accident occurred around March 2001 while Mr. Roe was working aboard the M/V The Rock. He claims that he was knocked to the ground when a towing strap snapped. He was in the process of untangling a cable and the tow strap when the incident occurred. Mr. Roe allegedly sustained injuries to his head, shoulder, and back.

Mr. Roe has accused the defendant of negligence for failing to safely operate the vessel, properly supervise the crew, and for failing to provide adequate safety equipment aboard the vessel.

Mr. Roe is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment, mental anguish, and loss of wages, to name a few.
