Energy Cranes LLC and Offshore Energy Center have been sued by Gulf Cooper & Manufacturing from the Aug. 19, 2009 sinking of its vessel in the Galveston Ship Channel.
The suit charges that the boom of a crane owned by Offshore crashed onto the M/V Jerry Picton, which sank.
Energy is named because it purportedly inspected the Ocean Star Oil Rig Museum crane and issued an inspection certificate approximately one month before the accident.
The vessel was used by Gulf Cooper to hold and transport scrap steel for disposal.
Gulf Cooper claims the vessel was a total loss with an estimated value exceeding $400,000. They also ask for $48,266.69 in incurred costs and labor.
