Edition 4 of the Best Management Practices for Protection against Somalia Based Piracy-known as BMP 4-has been released.
The booklet provides guidance for companies, captains and crews in preparation for passage through High Risk Areas such as the Indian Ocean to detect, deter or delay a pirate attack.
BMP 4 offers new information and updates from BMP 3 which was issued in 2010, including a memory aide on how to avoid becoming a piracy victim, a company planning checklist and more guidance on deployment of Private Maritime Security Contractors.
BMP 4 is produced and supported by numerous organizations such as CMF, EUNAVFOR, INTERPOL, NATO and UKMTO.
