Jones Act suit filed by injured shrimper

A Galveston County seaman allegedly hurt aboard a shrimp boat has filed a Jones Act case against the vessel and its captain.

Francisco Ramirez suffered back injuries working aboard the vessel San Martin II in July 2010, states the suit filed Mar 2 in Jefferson County District Court. The cause or location or the injury was not released.

The captain, Quang Truong, is accused of maintaining an unseaworthy vessel.

Ramirez asks for past and future medical expenses, pain, disfigurement, mental anguish, lost wages and court costs.
