International offshore accident results in spine injury, Indian seaman hires V&B attorneys

A Jones Act seaman was employed by Navigazione Montanari, an Italian company, as an oiler aboard the tanker M.T. Valcadore.  The oiler is from India.  The oiler fell while aboard the vessel due to faulty equipment and an unsafe work area.  He was sent to company doctors, who diagnosed him with herniated discs and performed surgery.

The oiler requested maintenance and cure benefits from his company.  However, the company was not very cooperative and the oiler found it very difficult to obtain these benefits, and ultimately the company cut him off completely.  This left the gentleman without any means to support his wife and small children in India.

The oiler contacted Vujasinovic & Beckcom in the United States, and hired the law firm to represent him.  V&B lawyers are assisting the Indian seaman with respect to his claim for maintenance and cure and in a Jones Act lawsuit.

The case remains pending.

Vujasinovic & Beckcom represents injured foreign seamen in cases involving the Jones Act and other offshore accidents and injuries across the world.  If you would like to speak with us about a potential international offshore accident case, please do not hesitate to contact us.
