Injured barge hand files Jones Act case

Two parties have been hit with a Jones Act lawsuit in New Orleans federal court. Fab-Con Inc. and C & M Contractors Inc. d/b/a C &  M Boat Rentals, are accused by Andrew McCord, plaintiff, for injuries he suffered working on a barge on Dec. 28, 2010. The accident occurred while McCord was employed by Fab-Con as a seaman on the C & M owned M/V Mr. Dean. They are accused of breach of duty, failure to provide a safe working place, lack of proper supervision, not providing minimal safety regulations and lack of adequate personnel and equipment, among several other charges. McCord asks damages for physical, mental and emotional pain and suffering, physical disability, loss of wages and earning capacity, maintenance and cure, attorney's fees, expert witness fees and punitive damages.
