How Safe Are You on a Cruise Ship?

When you think of taking a cruise you probably think of all the good attributes associated with cruising. The last thing you think of is becoming injured while on the cruise ship. However, cruise ship injuries might occur more frequently than you realize.

So, how safe are you on a cruise ship? There are many ways cruisers can become injured, which include slip and fall accidents and being struck by heavy automatic doors.

There have also been stories of fires breaking out on cruise ships. As a matter of fact, a fire broke out a few years back on The Star Princess operated by Princess Cruises and owned by Carnival Corp. The fire left two people with significant smoke inhalation and nine others with minor complications.

What about sexual assaults? Though, cruise lines have taken steps to minimize this risk by instituting strict rules to keep employees from fraternizing with cruisers, incidents of rape have been reported. Let’s face it, rape happens everywhere.

Cruisers should also understand that cruise lines do not generally have your best interests in mind when you become injured while onboard their vessels. A good cruise ship lawyer who understands maritime law and cruise line procedures can help you obtain compensation for your cruise injuries.

If you or someone you know has been injured while on a cruise ship, you should contact one of our experienced cruise ship accident attorneys at the Law Offices of Vujasinovic & Beckcom P.L.L.C. at (713) 224-7800 or (877) 724-7800.
