Evacuation from Tropical Storm Nate: Offshore Workers Missing

Reports are circulating that several workers are missing after evacuation attempts ahead of Tropical Storm Nate.  Apparently about ten workers evacuated a ship in the Gulf of Mexico.  Some of the workers were employed by Houston-based Geokinetics, and others worked for Trinity Liftboats of New Iberia, Louisiana.

Reports indicate these workers were seen abandoning a liftboat and entering a life raft, after sending a distress message.

In light of the injury risks associated with offshore evacuations, these workers are in our thoughts, and we wish them a recovery without injury.
