Employer may be held responsible for vessel injury caused by a co-worker

If you are injured out on the water because of a co-worker's mistake, there is a good chance that you have a legal cause against the company.

Accusations may include employer negligence in training the crew, failure to properly teach the crew about the proper way to conduct the operation and liability for the co-worker's actions.

This is precisely what happened according to a lawsuit filed by an employee who was knocked unconscious with a head injury due to the actions of a co-worker.

Hollis Pace filed the suit on July 25 in New Orleans federal court against Weeks Marine Inc., the Louisiana Record reports.

The alleged incident occurred on May 13 when Pace and other workers were pumping water out of a scow. When a co-worker loosened a rope, the scow barge drifted and forced the discharge hose to smack Pace in the back of the head. He fell to the deck and was knocked unconscious.
