E. Texas construction company hit with Jones Act lawsuit

R.L. Eldridge Construction of Sabine Pass, Texas faces a Jones Act lawsuit from a barge worker from a May 5, 2009 accident.

Charles Landry, Groves, Tx., filed the suit May 4 in Jefferson County (Tx) District Court, alleging he was seriously hurt hooking a cable to a barge while under the employment of Eldridge.

The suits states he suffered "severe and permanent injuries (that) were negligently caused by defendant."

The defendant is accused of negligent failure to provide a safe working place and maintaining an unseaworthy barge.

Landry asks for past and future medical expenses, lost wages, disfigurement, pain, mental anguish, impairment and all court costs.
