Deepwater Horizon culprits going after each other

It’s every company for itself behind the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

BP Plc says Halliburton destroyed evidence implicating it (Halliburton) of poor cement work on the ill-fated well that blew out in the Gulf of Mexico in April, 2010.

BP accuses Halliburton of “intentionally” destroying slurry testing results on the well to “eliminate any risk that this evidence would be used against it at trial,” Reuters reports.

Moreover, the oil giant said Halliburton lost computer evidence revealing how the cement performed, with Halliburton saying the information simply vanished.

BP cited Halliburton’s internal documents and recent depositions as the factual basis of its allegations.

BP is asking federal judge Carl Barbier to sanction Halliburton by ruling that the slurry design was “unstable,” a ruling that could be used at trial. The company also asked the judge to allow forensics experts to locate the missing computer data.
