A deckhand injury causes a Jones Act lawsuit filed by a maritime employee after a fall results in an alleged injury. The suit was filed against Boh. Bros. Contraction Co. by Johnny C. Doll., Jr. on May 9, 2011, in federal court in New Orleans.

According to Mr. Doll, the maritime accident occurred on December 21, 2010, while he was working aboard a barge. He was part of a construction project on the new Interstate 10 over Lake Ponchartrain.

Mr. Doll claims that he fell into an open manhole on the deck of the barge. He cites that he was walking in a darkened area when the incident occurred. Details concerning the extent of his injuries were unclear.

Mr. Doll also claims that he had requested a flashlight. The flashlight allegedly was not provided for him.

Mr. Doll is seeking more that $750,000 in damages from the defendant. Damages include pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses, and loss of earning capacity, to name a few.
