A Louisiana towing company faces a Jones Act lawsuit from a deckhand claiming injuries after slipping on a loose tile.
Jerry LeBlue filed the case in New Orleans federal court against Tako Towing Inc. on June 29.
The plaintiff claims he fell on the loose tile while going down a stairwell on March 6 while working aboard the M/V Tako Spirit. He charges the defendant with failing to take proper safety precautions when the vessel was undergoing renovations.
LeBlue seeks compensation for pain and suffering, mental pain, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of benefits, loss of earning capacity, attorney’s fees and court costs.
The defendant is accused of negligence for lack of employee supervision, providing an unsafe working place, failure to properly supervise or train the defendant and failing to equip the vessel with the proper equipment to perform certain operations.
